The Western Usambara Mountains has over the last decades seen an immense destruction of productive land. Tremendous soil erosion as well as soil depletion has led to a major reduction of soil fertility. At the same time the area is facing a dramatic change of climate, especially a decline in precipitation.
Our Organic Hill Farming Programme is adressing these menaces with organic farming methods applying the Push & Pull methodology combined with improved crop rotation techniques, a stronger diversification of crops, the local production of seed and improved animal husbandry
